The Marion County Historical Society Presents
“War of 1812 Meeting of the Minds”

On May 5th the Marion County Historical Society in partnership with Primrose of Marion will present War of 1812 Meeting of the Minds. The event will be held at the Palace Theater Pavilion, located at 276 W. Center Street in Marion, Ohio.

The evening begins at 5 pm with a wine tasting consisting of a selection of locally produced wines and a silent auction. While enjoying the scrumptious buffet dinner of period foods prepared by Primrose Retirement of Marion, guests will have the opportunity to converse with an actor portraying a person who was alive during the War of 1812.

After the meal will be the meeting of the minds portion of the evening featuring Andrew Jackson, Dolley Madison, Oliver Hazzard Perry, Tecumseh and British Major General Robert Ross. These personalities will interact with each other and host Greg Patterson while discussing their roles in the War of 1812, their ideas of what caused the conflict and other topics.

Reservations must be made by 4PM on April 30th. Cost is $20 per individual ticket or $35 per couple. Tecumseh will be portrayed by Roger Moore of Mansfield. Roger Moore is of Native American descent and spends much of his spare time sharing his Native American heritage and dispelling myths about his ancestors. Roger has performed in outdoor dramas and movies. Most recently he was a part of the Columbus, Ohio Bicentennial program which aired on PBS.  Dolley Madison will be portrayed by Mary Kathleen Tripp, British Major General Robert Ross will be portrayed by Mark Melroy, Oliver Hazzard Perry will be portrayed by Jared Haudenschield, and Andrew Jackson will be portrayed by Michael Szabo.
